Topic 9: Measles: Communicable disease in Namibia

Measles is the infection of breathing system and skin. 


Symptoms:  High fever, running nose, red eyes, and spot-like rash on the whole of the body

Transmission: Through air when an infected person coughs or sneeze nearby

Prevention: Children are immunized at young age to prevent them from catching the disease and to stop the spread of measles

    1. Measles can lead to death if unattended early because affects the breathing system meaning if the person stops breathing he/she will eventually die

    2. Generalised rash and cough, cpryza(runny nose)or conjunctivitis red eyes or any person in whom a clinician suspect measles.

    1. Adults can get measles too more especially when they didn't get vaccinated against it during their childhood time

  3. It's an airborne disease meaning it can be transmitted through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes without covering their mouth or nose.
